“I started my cheer career at the rec level when I was a little girl. I fell in love with it from day 1. I cheered throughout elementary and middle school. In high school I cheer for my Varsity sideline and competition team all four years. About 6 years ago, my daughter wanted to try cheer. She cheered a year with our rec league. She also fell in love with cheer. I decided to give coaching a try that year, and I fell even more in love with the sport! I’ve been coaching ever since!
My favorite part of the routine at comp is the dismount of the pyramid after everything hits! (Talk about emotional!) My next favorite part watching individual athletes or stunt groups who had been struggling with a skill HIT on the mat! Their faces when a struggling skill hits melts my heart. I love when they realize they CAN do it!
For the Waterspout this year, I’m looking forward to helping them find a love for the sport. With the littles, it’s always so rewarding watching them learn how to be teammates to each other and learn the discipline to be part of an organized sport. My favorite part though is watching the awe on their little faces when they hit the mat with the bright lights and then realize THEY are the stars and everyone is cheering them on!”
