Coach Julie
I grew up in Minnesota and moved to Texas in 2007 where I met my husband, Micah, and we married in 2011. I am a military spouse of a retired Air Force Veteran and we have two beautiful girls, Piper 11 and Presley 9. We also have 4 dogs, 7 fish and a turtle. I am considered a stay-at-home mom, although I am never at home. Between being the Vice President of our PTSP board at our girls’ school (like a PTO/PTA), Room mom for both girls’ homerooms, assisting in the children’s ministry at church on Sundays, cheer mom, dance mom, fur baby mom and now cheer coach you can see why I’m never at home. I may be super busy but I wouldn’t trade any of it!! When I do find some free time, I love going out on our boat and fishing with my hubby and girls, hitting the gym (I gotta keep up with all these young athletes!!), dinner with friends and traveling.
Growing up in Minnesota, I was a competitive dancer for 9 years but I wanted to be more involved in school so I joined the cheer squad. I cheered for basketball in Jr. High and then I was a hockey cheerleader in High School….oh yea you betcha us Minnesotans have hockey cheerleaders don’t cha know!! My cheerleading ended in high school but the flame was lit again when my oldest daughter, Piper, found HER passion for cheer. She started with rec cheer for football and also competed in the traditional rec youth and junior divisions. Her first year of cheer I was team mom and then the second I jumped into the coaching world. I submersed myself in all things cheer!! After 2 years with a rec division Piper was ready to go All Star and I was all in, her biggest cheerleader, which is what lead us here. Being this is only our second year; I was flattered when I was asked to coach the Prep Team and be a part of the Hurricane Family. I am so excited to learn more from these amazing coaches and to watch all these athletes grow and Rock The Mat!!!
